- Soft beige
- Mushroom taupe
- Cocoa
- Dark chocolate
- Champagne gold
This fall, I keep coming back to the same little combination: creamy ivory, mushroom taupe, and the prettiest chocolate browns. Add a soft throw, a tiny check, and a touch of gold, and that’s my idea of a cozy home.
I love a seasonal refresh that works with the pieces already in the room. These softer neutrals make it easy to add a few fall details and still have everything feel like you.
Start with the soft stuff.
Ivory and taupe are my starting point. I’d layer a cream throw over the sofa, then add houndstooth or brown plaid pillows. Keeping the colors close lets the textures do the work—especially a little nubby fabric beside something smooth.
A little chocolate is always a good idea.
A deeper brown gives those pale neutrals something to play against. Think walnut wood, a cocoa pillow, or a smoky brown glass accent. I’d repeat that shade in two little spots so the room feels pulled together without needing much.
Checks, tiny florals & a little gold.
The brown-and-cream checked pumpkin is such a sweet starting point. Its gold stem adds just enough shine. I’d pair it with a simple tray or a small stack of books, then bring in a brown botanical pillow nearby. A scalloped edge is another pretty way to add a soft detail.
Keep the pumpkins soft, too.
Cream, taupe, and cocoa pumpkins fit right into this palette. I love the idea of glossy glass beside a matte paper-mâché finish—the color stays quiet, but the different surfaces keep it interesting. Oatmeal towels with little white pumpkins bring the same feeling into the kitchen.
My little formula: an ivory base, a taupe layer, a chocolate accent, and one tiny glimmer of gold. Start with what you have, add your favorite seasonal detail, and make yourself a cozy little corner. ♡
